To contribute to the sustainable development of the local and regional agriculture industry and to be a rolemodel to other women seeking to enter the industry
Women In Rubberboots aims to highlight the role women play in the local agribusiness industry and the power of the industry to create sustainable income flows for women entrepreneurs.
Through its social media platforms, Women In Rubberboots showcases real life examples of the production of various local crops, using best practices , and maps the agricultural supply chain from production to the manufacture of value added products.
Offered technical support for Grow Box Plot located on station, by: Providing detailed proposals for plot (IPM, fertilizer regime, biosecurity measures);
Giving daily instructions to daily paid workers on tasks for plot;
Recordkeeping of activities done;
Harvesting and sales of products.
Assisted with CARDI's Coconut Industry Development for the Caribbean project executed, in partnership with the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the European Union (EU). Task performed included: Extensive research on coconut production, agro-processing of coconuts and waste management of coconut exocarp and mesocarp;
Weekly visits to coconut farmers where experiments were conducted to reduce incidences of red palm mites and palm weevils (setting up traps, replacing traps, collecting and recording of data);
Assisted in the hosting of farmer seminars on the effective reduction of pest and diseases affecting coconuts;
Assisted in the daily operations of the Office which included, facilitating meetings, maintaining up-to-date records and liaising with internal and external customers;
Provided support to low income residents of the constituency; Supported the hosting of outreach programmes.
Provided assistance to extension officers and farmers in rural communities to obtain farmers badges and different incentives; Liaised with external and internal customers;
Assisted officers in the planning and execution of agricultural exhibitions
Provided support for the Vertical Garden Project (an initiative of the United States Department of Agriculture) which sought to educate school children on agriculture and its benefits.
