1. Design and Implementation of the Foundation Health Care Course

In 2001, working in collaboration with Adventist Health International and Davis Memorial Hospital, played a major role in designing and implementing the Foundation Health Care Program (FHC) primarily for out of school youths. This program has since been endorsed by the Ministry of Health and the Institute of Distance and Continuing Education (IDCE), University of Guyana. The program is now it’s ninth (9th year) of operation. Graduates from the FHC program have advanced in a number of health care careers including medicine, nursing, midwifery, medical technology, X-ray, and pharmacy. Graduates from this program receive certificates of completion from the Ministry of Health and IDCE.


2. Design of a Community Health Educators Program

In 2005, I designed a Community Health Educators (CHE) program to train out-of-school youths and other community residents to be able to perform blood pressure screening, diabetes screening, and diabetes counseling in their respective communities.


3. Design of the Better Living Empowerment Program

In my capacity as Technical Coordinator, I played a lead role in the design, implementation, and monitoring of the Better Living Empowerment Program (BLEP)in Region 5. This program got underway in 2005 with funding from the World Bank and the Ministry of Health through the Guyana HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Project, Ministry of Health. The goal of this program is to synthesize the Region 5 community about HIV/AIDS, its impact on society, and provide preventative measures and resources to stem the incidence and prevalence of this disease in the Region.
