Spearheading the Fruits for Tomorrow Initiative, supported by the Division of Food Security, Natural Resources, the Environment and Sustainable Development as well as the Division of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities and Transportation on the island of Tobago.
This project aims to replenish the abundance of native fruits trees on the island, achieve the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) #2 of Zero Hunger, beautify the island of Tobago and prevent landslides/ erosion in susceptible areas, by planting native/ local fruit trees in schools, communities, at faith-based institutions and strategic areas for beautification purposes. It also entails creating tourist attractions called the '7 Tobago King Trees' which encourage global and domestic tourists to explore Tobago and learn about Tobago's local fruit trees and heritage through the pioneering use of modern technology. Fruits For Tomorrow also serves to improve the mental health of students by getting them out of the stressful classrooms and involving them in the practical and team-building planting process at their respective schools as well as alleviate crime issues by providing locals with the means to sell/ export these same fruits and fruit products, keeping income generation within the communities.
