• My role together with the captain of the vessel , is to ensure the safe embarkation and disembarkation of the pilot , from our vessel to the ship which is entering or exiting the channel of the port and monitor the channel which the operation is taking place .
• Carried out routine checks of the LSA , FFE , medical first aid kits aboard the vessel and navigational equipment .
• Further more the job requires proficient seamanship skills and good knowledge of the Collision Regulations , mainly but not limited to rule 5 and 6 .
• Worked flexible hours; night, holidays and weekends .

• Navigated ship under direction of captain and studied actionable insights to avoid collision.
• Aided officers in conducting routine checks of lifesaving appliances, firefighting equipment, and navigational devices for optimal functionality.
• Enhanced vessel safety by conducting regular inspections and maintenance of deck equipment.
• Supported deck maintenance projects such as painting, chipping rust, greasing winches, or replacing lines as necessary for optimum ship performance.
• Assisted in navigation activities for safe passage planning and efficient voyages.
• Developed technical skills through hands-on experience working with tools, machinery, and equipment on board the ship.

On this contract , the vessel was hired to conduct diving and survey operations to connect 96km of subsea piping to the shore off the East coast of Trinidad to various other offshore platforms .

On this trip the vessel 7 Borealis , on which I was also a Deck Cadet . The vessel wa contracted to do a pipe lay operation of 96km of 12inch gas pipeline ,starting from of the east coast of Trinidad and going to various offshore platforms.

• Working aboard the Pipe lay / Heavy lift vessel the SEVEN BORAILIS as a deck cadet has thus far been my most knowledgeable learning experience , where I got the opportunity to work alongside and train under experience Navigational Officers , Captain , Riggers and Abel Seamen , which allowed me to develop my skills as a deck cadet and put what I learnt from school into action.
• Navigated ship under direction of the Chief Officer and studied actionable insights as per the Collision Regulations .
• Checked tank soundings and performed ballast transfer while in heavy lift operation to stabilize the vessel on even keel.
• Stood watch while underway to facilitate communications and maintain onboard safety and security.
• Performed deck maintenance and upkeep and reported abnormalities to the officers .
• Inspected lifesaving apparatus and fire fighting equipment for defects.
• Assisted vessel leadership in developing drills and procedures for on-board emergencies and implementing training procedures for crew members.
