Professional Skills Summary

SUPERVISORY:

  • Provides training to new staff including Public Service Officers and OJT's on the operations of the unit.

OFFICE MANAGEMENT:

  • Orders and receives all stationery and office supplies within the department.
  • Filing of documents both electronically and physically for efficient retrieval.
  • Maintains all records of files within the department ensuring that everything is accounted for.
  • Maintains a register of personnel files for staff including relevant leave particulars.


ACCOUNTING:

  • Auditing of inventory and equipment to ensure completeness of records.
  • Invoicing using Peachtree systems.
  • Writing up and posting of ledgers.
  • Quotations.
  • VAT payments, Bank Reconciliation Statements.
  • Assisting with payroll and Statutory Deductions.
  • Receivables and Payables.
  • Handling of petty cash.

OTHER (Special Assignments)

  • During the period 2016 to 2019, during the construction phase of the Trinidad Methanol and DME Project, I was part of a team that was instrumental in providing the labour requirements for that project, under the purview of the National Employment Service (Manpower Division). The responsibilities of this project enabled me to perform duties as follows:
  • Conducting Interviews with jobseekers and assessing them based on skills, knowledge and experience in order to assist in possible job placements in their field of expertise.
  • Effective follow-up with employers on the persons referred and their need for further recruitment in a timely manner. Ability to interact with potential employers to discern their employment needs.
  • Provide supervision, delegate duties and effectively train new members of staff as well as OJT'S on the processes and procedures required for efficient operations of the office.
  • Utilizing the information obtained from both jobseekers and potential employers to compile statistical and analytical reports for use by the department in enhancing its approach to improving their strategies and developing programs to assist members of the public more effectively.
  • The Ministry of Labour was part of a committee that organized meetings twice per week with the various main sub-contractors on the plant for which I was one of the persons in attendance. These meetings facilitated discussions as it pertained to the labour force on the construction site whether in terms of further recruitment or providing guidance on issues that may arise.
